Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to Term 2! I trust that you had a restful and enjoyable break with your families, and I am delighted to see our school community reunited once again. As we embark on this new term together, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the wonderful events that transpired during our first two weeks back and celebrate the achievements of our students.
First and foremost, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who joined us for our annual Mother's Day breakfast in the bottom playground. It was a joyous occasion filled with laughter, delicious food, and heartfelt conversations. Seeing families come together to celebrate the incredible women in our lives was truly heartwarming. I would like to express my gratitude to the school association, dedicated staff and community volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this event a memorable one. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, and it is because of your commitment that our school community continues to thrive.
Additionally, I am thrilled to announce the recipients of our Values Certificates at our recent assembly. These certificates are awarded to students who exemplify our school values of respect, responsibility, courage, growth and connection. It is truly inspiring to see our students embody these values in their everyday actions and interactions. Congratulations to all the winners! Your dedication to upholding our school values serves as a shining example to your peers, and I am immensely proud of each and every one of you.
As we dive into Term 2, let us carry forward our vision of embracing community, growing together that defines our school. Together, we will continue to nurture an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
I look forward to the exciting journey ahead and am grateful for the opportunity to partner with you in your child's education.
Warm regards,
James Milne

On Thursday our School Association, with the invaluable help of some of the amazing Dads from our community, treated us to a Mother's Day Breakfast. Celebrating all the incredible mums and special people in our lives with a delicious breakfast. A huge thank you to everyone involved for making this morning so unforgettable!
In kindergarten we are lucky enough to have some new garden beds. We’re in the process of researching gardens and will come up with some designs soon.
During our circle time we asked the children how gardens made them feel.
Here are some of their responses:
Jimmy: My garden makes me feel happy because I like climbing my tree.
Hendrik: They make me feel beautiful because they smell good.
Mya: They make me feel happy because I like honey and bees make honey.
Pip: Gardens make me feel relaxed and calm.
Finlay: They make me feel good because of the flowers colour.
I love how confident the children have become with sharing their thinking.
We have begun the term with lots of enthusiasm and engagement. Now we have our routines and expectations clear, we can really get stuck into our learning!
We have finished learning the most common sounds for each letter of the alphabet. We have engaged in many different multi-sensory activities while doing this, even ‘zooming’ along a z with cars. We have learnt about vowels, and how to add an s to make a plural. Now the tricky parts begin as we move onto learning diagraphs, which is where two letters make one sound such as ‘th’. Our phonics groups with 1/2 Page have begun for 20 minutes 4 days a week so we can also get some explicit instruction and practise targeted to where we are individually at in our phonics journey. Making our learning intentions and how we will know we can be successful very clear is a new focus for us. During phonics we know we are being successful when we can recognise, write, spell and read correctly using a new sound.
Given the season, we have been enjoying every sunshine filled moment we can. We have even spent whole blocks of time outside doing our learning in the glorious warm sun. Being given the opportunity to engage in learning in the outdoor environment and in ways that are authentic to us is so important. These experiences allow us to make deeper connections to our learning.
In Phonics Lessons we have been working so hard. I am so proud to share these photos with you. Students in this class were learning the new sound ‘au’ and were able to segment and write ‘astronaut’ and ‘launch’.
In Maths we are using 4 or 5 different objects to measure with. First we had an estimate of how many we thought it would be and then measured using paperclips, dominoes, counters and cubes.
We started Buddy Reading this Tuesday. We were read to by Grade 4/5 and we also read to them. It was a lot of fun and a great way to practise. Enjoy the pics.
